Lessons In Yin
A training in the philosophy, anatomy and spirit of yin yoga

Lessons in Yin is for those who want to dive into a deeper understanding of what it means to live in yin. Through an untangling of the history, philosophy and architecture of yin we will learn how to apply these principles to our practice and life. Each class will be studded with yin practices and philosophy plus need to know anatomy to help you truly get in touch with the essence of this beautiful practice. The mini-series is suited to dedicated students, teachers who want inspiration or those starting on the path and would like to share yin out in to the world.
The Course
Each week we will meet twice for two hour sessions to give you time to digest the information presented. The course is held over 8 weeks and is 24 hours in total.
Each lesson will include a lecture, a practice and a lesson plan. You will have the chance to ask questions.
We will cover topics such as:
Architecture: the architecture of the body and why our variations are our superpower. Pose analysis. Pose Variation. Skeletal variation. Choosing poses to suit your body type. Fascia.
Physiology and energy. What happens under the bonnet. Yin energy flow, the rebound, balancing energy. Meridians.
Philosophy. Each class will be grounded in a philosophy you can use in your teaching or in your life. I will draw on the Tao Te Ching.
You don’t need to be a teacher to do this course but you may wish to do it to start you on your journey.

24 hours of class time, lectures and practice
Yin Poses
Take an in depth look at the blueprint poses and how they can be taught and sequenced.
Learn how to discern what poses suit you or your student/different body types/ injuries/modifications by understanding the archetypes.
Yin Anatomy
Understand ranges of motions, stretching, compression v tension.
Learn what is stopping me in going deeper in poses or restricting me from entering a pose,
Understand skeletal variation and target areas.
Learn about the intelligence of fascia.
Yin Philosophy
Explore the roots of Taoism and yin yang theory and how it applies to modern-day practice. Explore key principles and quotes.
Explore movement of energy and the fundamentals of Qi
Yin Teaching
YIN THEMES: Understand the importance of themes in the Yin classes. Yin is rich with themes about how to live your life in balance. We will look work mainly with the Tao Te Ching.
HOLDING SPACE: A subtle difference makes you an outstanding yin teacher. Learn how to hold space, be present, and communication skills.
Props+Variations
PROPS: take an in-depth look at how to use props to modify poses.
YIN VARIATIONS: Learn ow to adapt poses to feel more or less into the target area.
Lesson Plans
Each lesson will be accompanied by an in depth lesson plan which you can take straight into your teaching or practice.
The Schedule and Booking
Please note I live in New Zealand so we are ahead of the rest of the world. For a lot of you it will show as the day before my time. It is important you select your time zone when you book.

The Classes are offered Monday and Thursday NZT 8am-10am starting 24th March and finishing 1 May over a 6 week period
